Temporary Total Disability (TTD)
Medical & Disability Terms
Definition
Weekly wage-replacement benefits paid while you're completely unable to work and haven't yet reached maximum medical improvement.
Why It Matters
TTD is usually the first benefit you'll receive after an injury, calculated as a percentage of your average weekly wage.
How This Connects to Your Estimate
The "typical temporary disability period" listed in weeks on every injury page is a TTD estimate specifically — it's how long the average case in that category stays in TTD status before reaching MMI. That week count, multiplied by your weekly benefit, is the foundation the rest of the settlement calculation builds on before any severity multiplier is applied.
